As I mentioned in a previous post (here), the food in Cabo was amazing. During our visit, we stayed at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort. Aside from being a beautiful and peaceful retreat, this Sheraton boasts some amazing restaurants.
Enter Pitahayas. This restaurant is, hands down, one of the best I’ve ever encountered. We were fortunate enough to secure a table with a front row view of the water. In addition to the relaxed atmosphere complete with beautiful views, we dined on amazingly fresh seafood presented in the most creative fashion. It was ridiculous.
Here is a video interview of the chef from Pitahayas.
A view from our table…
Andy and I each enjoyed a “Seafood Symphony”. This includes sautéed scallops with mashed potatoes, spicy softshell crab, large prawns with risotto, and grilled lobster tail with vanilla sauce. It looks as good as it tastes and the vanilla sauce served with the lobster was surprising and spectacular!
I almost forgot – the seared duck appetizer!
What an amazing and memorable meal! This is another “must eat” in Cabo!
Have you dined at Pitahayas?
Andy and I spent about five days in Cabo recently. It was such a great vacation. Cabo has such a relaxed atmosphere and with the heat in full force, life seemed to slow down even more. In terms of food, I don’t think we had many expectations – good or bad. But, we were pleasantly surprised by the array of delicious seafood and the Mexican flare in nearly every dish we enjoyed.
Cabo’s newest first-class restaurant, Bar Esquina, features a unique twist on International creative cuisine: Mexican influenced Mediterranean flavors using locally grown, organic produce; fresh fish from the Pacific & Sea of Cortez; and the highest quality meats cooked on a mesquite grill. Bar Esquina is quickly becoming one of the finest Restaurants in Cabo.
Dine at our 17 seat marble bar, fireside on our 70 seat deck, or at the Chef’s Table overlooking the beautiful open kitchen. Bar Esquina also offers organic Mexican coffee direct from Chiapas and Oaxaca, brewed fresh daily from 7am.
Bar Esquina is everything it promises to be. From a relaxing atmosphere with attentive service to amazingly creative and fresh cuisine, Bar Esquina is definitely a gem in the Medano Beach district.
I don’t have a photo, but we started out with an appetizer: Tuna tartar, ginger, chili & avocado. The presentation was creative and appetizing.
Andy had the: Lobster Bisque Spaghetti
I had the spicy chipotle shrimps with coconut-lime risotto.
For dessert, we had the raspberry sorbet and a “Cabo Lime” pie with crumbled lime and blackberry meringue (so good – I love meringue!).
If you are in Cabo, this restaurant is a “must eat”. Ask for a mango-infused vodka martini! Check out more menu items here.
