Colorado’s Dark Night Massacre
Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the Aurora Mall shooting as well as to their families.
Just last month, victim Jessica Ghawi wrote on her blog about narrowly avoiding the June 2 shooting at the Toronto Eaton Centre that killed 24-year old Ahmed Hassan.
“I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders’ faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don’t know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath,” she wrote at the time.
“I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing,” she wrote. “So often I have found myself taking it for granted. Every hug from a family member. Every laugh we share with friends. Even the times of solitude are all blessings. Every second of every day is a gift.”
How true.
From Bonfils Blood Center (via 9 News) Bonfils Blood Center is currently accepting appointments from community members wanting to donate blood on behalf of the Aurora movie theatre shootings that occurred early this morning. All six Denver metro donor centers are open today until 7 p.m. and there are also mobile drives open to the public. Please call 303-366-2000 or visit www.bonfils.org to schedule your appointment and find a donor center/mobile drive nearest you. They are particularly in need of O-, A- and platelets and ask that donors with those blood types please consider donating. As of this time, Bonfils has met the needs of the local hospitals involved in this tragedy and is asking that donors not only donate today but make appointments in the coming days to help replenish our blood supply.
A Departure From All Things Funner (Food + Running), Honor Your Mother
If you don’t read Momastery, you are truly missing out. Momastery is authored by Glennon Melton; an honesty writer. To learn more about Glennon and her blog, click here.
I realize this post has nothing to do with the Funner things in life (see above definition of “Funner”), but it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want to!
THE MEAT OF THIS POST:
Every now and again, Glennon, through her readers (aka Monkees – learn more here) raise money and hope for those in need. Currently, Glennon and the Monkees are raising money to help two very deserving mothers. Reading about these two women will remind of your own blessings. We have so much to be grateful and thankful for in this life. With Mother’s Day approaching, one MAJOR blessing that comes to mind is my own mother. I am so blessed to have the mom that I do. I know you feel the same way. So honor your Mom or your Mom’s memory by reading what Glennon has to say about these two women and their families. When you are done – give $5, $10, or $20 to this worthy cause. But, you can’t do more than $25 – that’s the rule. AND, pass this on.

(Visitors: What we have here is a LOVE FLASH MOB. It is a celebration of LIFE and LOVE and HOPE that we Monkees hold once in a blue moon. We come together here to support a Sister, a Sister who might need a reminder that She is Loved and Watched Over. In short – We Make Magic Happen, Baby. We do it by showing up, giving what we can (up to a $25 maximum), and trusting that the money raised is the least of the miracles that result. Join us, EVERYONE IS INVITED!)
