I’ve always wanted to participate in bike to work day even before I owned a bike.  Today, my opportunity finally came.  I have my bike (the “Diva”) and no plans that might interfere with my special commute.

Work is about 3 or 4 miles from my house; it isn’t that far.  However, it was much more of a workout than I anticipated.  You see, my bike – my beach bike cruiser – is a single speed.  After a little while, any uphills require a great deal of effort.  Thus, I’m a little tired and I’m thinkin’ that I’ll be feelin’ the ‘ol hamstrings tomorrow.

Also, I need to work on my basket which, during my commute, lowered itself and ejected my shoes into a pile of sand.  Grr. I hope no one saw that …  Once upon a time, I had a better basket.   It was on my prior bike (mountain-esque bike) that was stolen from my garage – in part.  They did leave my basket.  How thoughtful.  So, when I got the Diva, I put my old basket on it and then someone came along and stole that!  Last weekend, in desperate need of a basket, I got a basket from Target.  I guess need to make some adjustments before the ride home.  Can’t win ‘em all.

Biking is nice change of pace and a good workout.  I hope today’s adventure inspires me to bike into the office a couple days a month.
