Sweet Basil – Vail, Colorado

Any regular Vail visitor is well aware of Sweet Basil.  It never disappoints.  Sweet Basil opened its doors in 1977 and is a creative, modern American restaurant located in the heart of the Vail Village, voted Colorado’s Most Popular Restaurant by the Zagat survey. The menu features imaginative cuisine with an innovative array of diverse influences. A destination for wine lovers as well, the wine list features over 500 carefully chosen selections from around the world.

Vail is a beautiful place to visit in the summertime.  Every time I visit, I always think about how lucky I am to live in Colorado.  Does it get any better?  Vail Village was hoppin’ this past weekend and the weather was perfect.  We were so excited to dine at Sweet Basil (again) and as usual, it was absolutely fabulous.  Here are few things we had:

Asparagus and Smoked Prosciutto Carpaccio
Shaved Green and White Asparagus + Crispy Egg Yolk
Bagna Cauda + Asparagus Puree

Colorado Lamb Shank
De-hydrated Tomato + Whipped Ricotta + Garden Peas
Ciabatta Crumbs + Mint Salmoriglio

90 Schilling Braised Beef Cheek
Confit Shallot Puree + Roasted Turnips + Almond and Arugula Pistou
Smoked Almond Powder

Sweet Basil S ‘more
Molten Chocolate Soufflé + Cinnamon Graham
Marshmallow + Milk Chocolate Ice Cream
Salted Cashews

About zinnrunner

I am a lawyer, long distance runner and a yogi. I created this blog to chronicle my marathon training. I never made it past 2 entries. I think a lot about writing when it comes to training. I am not sure why those thoughts never get to this blog. But, I do spend a lot of time writing about and photographing food. So, I will use this blog to share food and maybe, just maybe, my training gets a little airtime too!
